Taurine

A common energy-drink and pre-workout ingredient — plausible small effects, weak stand-alone evidence.

EVIDENCE
Limited
TYPICAL DOSE
1–3 g
TIMING
Pre-workout, if used.
WHAT IT IS

An amino acid involved in hydration, muscle function and antioxidant defence. Frequently paired with caffeine in pre-workouts.

WHY (OR WHY NOT)

Some evidence for minor endurance and recovery benefits, but the stand-alone data is limited and inconsistent. It's likely a minor contributor at most, and hard to separate from the caffeine it usually travels with.

CAUTIONS
  • !Don't expect much on its own.
  • !Well tolerated in typical doses.
