Collagen Peptides

Taken for tendons, joints and skin — early evidence is promising, especially paired with vitamin C before loading.

EVIDENCE
Emerging
TYPICAL DOSE
10–15 g with ~50 mg vitamin C, about 30–60 minutes before training
TIMING
Before the session that loads the tissue.
WHAT IT IS

Hydrolysed collagen protein providing the amino acids (glycine, proline) that connective tissue is built from.

WHY (OR WHY NOT)

Emerging evidence that collagen with vitamin C, taken shortly before loading the tissue, may support tendon, ligament and joint health and reduce pain. Not a complete protein for muscle-building — that's still whey or food.

CAUTIONS
  • !Doesn't count as high-quality protein for muscle — it's low in some essential aminos.
  • !Give it months; connective tissue adapts slowly.
