Betaine (TMG)
Trimethylglycine, an early-days strength and power aid — some promising studies, not yet a sure thing.
Betaine, or trimethylglycine, a compound found in beetroot involved in cellular hydration and methylation.
A handful of studies suggest small improvements in power and strength, possibly by supporting the body's own creatine production. The evidence is thin and mixed — interesting, not established. Cheap enough to trial if you're curious.
- !Evidence is preliminary — don't expect creatine-level reliability.
- !Generally well tolerated; may cause a mild fishy body odour in some.
