Eight-Angle Pose (Astavakrasana)
HOW TO DO IT
  1. 01Sit and hook one leg high over the same-side shoulder.
  2. 02Plant both hands on the floor and cross the ankles around the top hand's side.
  3. 03Squeeze the legs together around the upper arm.
  4. 04Lean forward and bend the elbows to ninety degrees like a push-up.
  5. 05Extend the legs out to the side and reach the chest forward.
COACHING CUES
  1. 01Grip the arm hard with the legs.
  2. 02Lean forward as the elbows bend.
  3. 03Extend the legs and chest away from each other.
COMMON MISTAKES
  1. 01Keeping the weight back so the feet won't lift — lean the chest forward for the counterbalance.
  2. 02Letting the legs loosen off the arm — the squeeze holds you up.
  3. 03Bending only one elbow — lower evenly like a push-up.

Note: Reference material, not a prescription. Load, volume and whether this movement suits you at all depends on your assessment — if something hurts, stop and get it looked at.
