Cable Crunch
A kneeling crunch against cable resistance, loading the abs through spinal flexion. A staple for direct, progressive ab work.

- 01Kneel below a high pulley and hold a rope at the sides of the head.
- 02Set the hips back and keep them fixed throughout.
- 03Crunch the ribcage down toward the pelvis, rounding the spine.
- 04Squeeze the abs hard at the bottom of the crunch.
- 05Return under control without letting the weight pull you upright.
- 01Curl the ribs toward the hips.
- 02Keep the hips fixed — move at the spine.
- 03Squeeze the abs, don't just hinge.
- 01Hinging at the hips instead of flexing the spine — round down through the abs.
- 02Pulling with the arms — the hands only anchor the rope.
- 03Letting the weight yank you up between reps — stay in control.
Note: Reference material, not a prescription. Load, volume and whether this movement suits you at all depends on your assessment — if something hurts, stop and get it looked at.
